In addition to guest houses, numerous rooms, and various amenities, there is also an underground shelter that journalists have dubbed the “Zuckerbunker.” The facility is already in the partial construction stage.

Mark Zuckerberg is constructing a magnificent villa in Hawaii for $100 million. According to some estimates, the project’s cost may reach $270 million, as reported by The Wired. This project will become one of the most expensive in the history of individual construction.

The Wired reports that the Koolau Ranch complex on the island of Kauai, where only 70,000 people reside, will include over a dozen buildings with two central mansions. They will be connected by a tunnel leading to an underground shelter. The total area of the complex will be over 560 hectares. Zuckerberg acquired land in this area through transactions that began in August 2014.

The complex will feature a minimum of 30 bedrooms and 30 bathrooms, elevators, offices, conference halls, pools, saunas, and sports facilities. Additionally, there will be guest houses and a group of 11 “disco-shaped” treehouses connected by rope bridges.

In the underground bunker, there will be emergency exits, food supplies, and self-sustaining energy sources—everything needed for a comfortable life. Also, an “explosion-resistant” door made of concrete and steel will be installed.

All entrances and exits in all buildings of the complex will have doors with keypads and sound insulation, and the library will have a hidden door. According to one of the workers, cameras are already “everywhere,” and plans show that in one small building, there are more than 20 of them.

Zuckerberg built an almost two-meter wall around the complex and required all his employees, regardless of their position or involvement, to sign non-disclosure agreements regarding their work on the property. One of the builders remarked, “It’s like a fight club.”

The media mogul spent $170 million on purchasing land for the construction of the complex, which he, his wife, and children consider their family home, according to his representative. Zuckerberg leads a healthy lifestyle, devotes time to sports, and regularly spends time with his three daughters and wife. Unlike many billionaires, he is not known for sharp statements and impulsive actions. That’s why the construction of a secret mansion on a small island in Hawaii has attracted media attention. The Wired, discussing the project’s secrecy, emphasizes that perhaps the media mogul is gradually preparing for an apocalypse. Other businessmen are also preparing for the possibility of a “doomsday” or catastrophe, such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Reddit CEO Steve Huffman, and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. The latter spent $147 million on purchasing two mansions on Indian Creek Island in Florida.
